A Flying Visit

Posted by MANDI at 12:39 PM

We had a flying visit from Grandpa yesterday. He was supposed to fly into Red Dirt Central in the morning, do a quick job then fly back to Perth in the afternoon. But we managed to convince him (and he in turn convinced the powers-that-be) to stay with us overnight and, as luck would have it, it was perfect timing. He was here for Offspring #1's end-of-year school concert.
This year they had a Christmas theme and the "little kids", ie the two kindy and two pre-primary classes, all sang "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" together. They had to wear their uniforms but were allowed to accessorise with a Santa hat. It was very cute to watch - half of them forgot the words, the music drowned out the rest of them and they muddled up all the carefully choreographed actions while the flashes on parents cameras lit up the amphitheatre and the whole school cheered and applauded the 'babies'.
We couldn't get a decent picture of Offspring #1 in the crowd but I think I recognise his hands (the little ones, about two thirds of the way down, right at the back) in the last picture!

Sooo cute! I wonder why the girl in front is not wearing a uniform? And I´m still not sure what to think about school-uniforms (it´s not practiced over here).
Awww, lovely weather ;-)

Thanks Iris. She is wearing a uniform but it's the dress rather than the skirt and shirt version. Some of the other girls have theirs on too. I grew with school uniforms so I don't give it too much thought but as a mum... I LOVE THEM! They make mornings so easy, everyone's wearing the same thing and on a a school excursion you can pick out the kids in your groups really easily!

Thanks Helen. That would be great.
