First off I have to say that I'm being tactful when I say that the terms "aesthetically pleasing" and "Port Hedland" should not be ever be in the same sentence. But, I am told by several reliable sources, the people who live there are lovely and it has a real sense of community which I'm sure you will agree is a quality sadly lacking in many areas these days.
Here are some pics of the industy in the town.
A big (okay, HUGE) pile of crushed iron ore, ready to be loaded and transported.
A bigger picture of the vastness of what is being mined.
Very unattractive fuel tanks, or so we believe (that they are fuel tanks that is - I think you'll all agree with the 'unattractive' bit.)
An ore carrier waiting to be loaded. It is loaded until all the bottom part of the ship, the red bit, is in the water.
And some pics of the country side between here and Port Hedland.
The view for two-and-a-half hours. Mostly flat, with some green scrub and the odd set of hills.
Some cows on one of the cattle stations between the towns.
Hope you like the photos of some the area surrounding our patch of Red Dirt.
